Hey everyone, I've been reading up on the Palm Sunday Massacre and I can't stop thinking about how incredibly resilient the sole survivor, who was just a baby at the time, has turned out to be. It's hard to imagine experiencing such a traumatic event so early in life and then growing up without your immediate family. The fact that she was raised by her grandmother and later adopted by Joanne Jaffe is quite touching and almost like a silver lining in such a dark story. I've read that Jaffe stayed involved in her life, and I find it remarkable how some bonds can form under the most tragic circumstances. The idea that Jaffe went from being a beat cop to a surrogate parent really brings home the sense of community and empathy that law enforcement agents can show. It's touching how this aspect, amidst all the horror, gives hope for healing and resilience for the survivor and her adopted family. I wonder if anyone knows more about the life of that survivor or any interviews she might have given? It would be interesting to learn how she's been able to cope and move forward.
