It's been nearly four decades, yet the impact of the Palm Sunday Massacre remains deeply etched in the hearts of many. I recently came across a detail that I find both chilling and hauntingly poignant: the victims were discovered in relaxed poses. This suggests they might have been caught completely off guard, possibly in a moment of peace or even sleep. The thought of those young children, along with their mothers, being taken so suddenly without warning, is gut-wrenching. It's moments like this that make me ponder not just the tragedy itself but also the immense grief and trauma thrust upon the innocent families who lost so much that day. The Lopez family, for instance, losing not only Virginia but also her young sons, Eddie and Juan Enrique... it's just too much. I also think about Christina Rivera, the only one who survived. Growing up, knowing what happened, must have carried its own unimaginable weight. It’s vital to keep discussing and remembering these events—to honor the memories of the victims and to seek understanding and justice for their families. Hoping the community can come together and continue to support those who have endured such a loss.
