I recently stumbled across some details from the St. Valentine’s Day massacre in the Bronx, which left me thinking about the role building security played in the whole tragedy. It's really disheartening to consider that something as basic as a broken door and a missing security guard might have contributed to such a horrific outcome. I can't imagine the anger and frustration the families must feel, knowing a lapse in security possibly gave those killers easier access to the apartment.
It also got me wondering about the management company's role in all of this. Shouldn't there be more accountability when it comes to ensuring tenant safety, especially in neighborhoods with known issues? I heard there was a lawsuit, and while no amount of money can bring back loved ones, I hope it led to some changes. Whether it's better security measures or more diligent staffing, anything to prevent another tragedy like this would be worth it.
My heart goes out to the families of Julia, Edwin, and Maria. I hope they found some measure of peace and that their story helps push for better community safety measures.
