I’ve been thinking a lot about the Little Chester Shoe Store tragedy, especially about how the events unfolded during what should have been a festive time of year. It's such a terrible reminder of how life can change in an instant. I can't get past the image of Henry William Lucero-Inga and the other victims simply being caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. I just read that it took days before Henry’s family in Peru could raise the funds to bring him home. I can’t imagine the pain and helplessness his relatives must have felt being so far away and unable to take immediate action. It’s an undeserved layer of grief for them, and my heart truly goes out to his family and friends. Moments like these make me reflect on how crucial it is to support mental health efforts and community initiatives to prevent such senseless violence from happening in the future. Anyone else have thoughts on how society can better address issues like this?
