Has anyone else looked into Almir Olimpio Alves' work at Binghamton University? From what I've read, he was really passionate about his research and teaching. It makes it even more difficult to comprehend how someone with such a bright future and positive influence in his community could be taken away so abruptly. His contributions to the Department of Mathematical Sciences were reportedly significant, and it's clear he had so much more to give. I can't help but think about those students and colleagues who must still feel the void left by his absence. If any of you have more insights into his work or what he was like as a mentor, feel free to share. It might be nice to remember the impact he had beyond the statistics of this tragedy.
