Hey everyone,
I can’t stop thinking about the tragic incident involving Samuel Cruz and the implications for police training. It’s devastating to consider how things ended and the impact on his family, especially his wife Elsa, who must be going through unimaginable pain.
I was wondering if anyone has insights into the Crisis Intervention Team model mentioned in discussions following Cruz's case. It seems like such teams could potentially prevent tragic outcomes by having officers trained specifically to handle mental health crises. Does anyone know if New Rochelle or nearby areas are considering adopting this approach, or if any city has successfully integrated it into their police training?
It's so vital to find ways to de-escalate situations and protect all involved. It feels like an opportunity for real change if communities and law enforcement can work together on this. My thoughts are with the Cruz family during this terribly difficult time.
Would love to hear what others think or if there’s any movement on this front.
Stay safe and kind, everyone.
