I can't stop thinking about the role that Christopher Perkins, known as "Gotti," played in this tragedy. It’s absolutely shocking how someone could decide to just open fire like that, taking away the lives of Deverin White and Benjamin Gerald in an instant. They were both so young, with so much life ahead of them. My heart goes out to their families and friends who had to live through this horrifying ordeal. I keep wondering about those moments leading up to the incident—what could have possibly driven Perkins to commit such an act? It’s hard to wrap my head around the senselessness of it all. I'm just hoping that sharing these stories and keeping the memory of Deverin and Benjamin alive helps bring some comfort to their loved ones.
I've been thinking a lot about the aftermath for Deverin White's family after that devastating day in Buffalo. It's honestly unimaginable what they must have gone through, losing a loved one in such a violent manner. I noticed during coverage of the trial that not a lot was said about the emotional toll on the families involved. While it's somewhat reassuring that justice was served with Perkins receiving a hefty sentence, the pain for White's family doesn't just disappear. They've been forced into a shadow of grief that must affect every aspect of their lives.
Has anyone else seen any support resources or outpouring from the Buffalo community for the families? I feel like they all could really use every bit of support they can get as they continue to navigate through this tragedy. If the community rallied behind them, it would be comforting to know that they aren't alone in remembering and honoring Deverin's life.
I've been thinking a lot about the efforts of the law enforcement teams involved in the Deverin White and Benjamin Gerald case. The Buffalo Homicide Squad, the Buffalo Police Crime Scene Unit, and the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Felony Task Force really went above and beyond to apprehend Christopher Perkins. It's comforting to know that there are dedicated individuals out there who are committed to seeking justice for victims and their families.
I can't even imagine the relief and gratitude the families might have felt knowing that the person responsible for such a tragic loss was brought to justice. Bringing someone to trial is never easy, and the work that goes on behind the scenes is immense. My heart goes out to everyone who was affected by this incident, and I'm grateful for all the people who played a role in bringing some semblance of closure to those grieving.
