I want to talk about the parole system and its role in tragic incidents like Cesar Sanchez's murder. It's incredibly frustrating to think about how Delano Hubert, with his violent past, was out on parole yet again. It’s chilling to consider that it wasn't his first encounter with violence at the Berry Houses. A person with such a brutal history should be more closely monitored, if not kept from having the opportunity to reoffend. Thinking of Cesar’s family and loved ones, it makes one wonder if tighter parole regulations or more comprehensive rehabilitation programs could prevent such tragedies. How can someone with clear disregard for others continue to slip through the cracks? It’s hard not to feel disillusioned by a system meant to protect and offer second chances that sometimes fails to prioritize public safety. My thoughts go out to Cesar's family during this difficult time.
