Has anyone else been following the aftermath and how Orlando Rivera’s family is coping? I can’t even begin to imagine the pain and confusion they’re going through, especially since he was just an innocent guy coming back from work. It’s unsettling to think you could be in the wrong place at the wrong time and your whole world changes forever. I came across a local news interview with one of his friends last week, and it really put things in perspective. This city needs to do more to ensure that families like Orlando’s get the support they need after such tragedies. Community programs, counseling services, anything to help them feel supported during such an unimaginably difficult time. How can we better support the victims’ families in these cases? Has there been any outreach organized around Washington Heights since this tragedy?
I can't stop thinking about the courage it must've taken Orlando Rivera in those final moments. Just an ordinary guy, on his way back from starting a new job, suddenly finding himself amidst chaos. It's a reminder of how quickly and unexpectedly life can change. My heart really goes out to his family and friends who are left grappling with this senseless loss. The randomness of these incidents is deeply troubling. Let's hope that bringing Pabon to justice helps curb the cycle of violence these gangs perpetuate. I wish peace and strength to all affected by this tragedy.
