I’ve been thinking a lot about Shelley Gilbert’s role in this tragedy. I can’t imagine the immense pain she’s gone through—losing her husband and, in a way, her son too. It’s so difficult trying to navigate your love for your child while confronting the reality of their actions. From what I’ve read, it seems like she was caught in an unbearable situation, wanting to protect both family members. Her plea for leniency during the trial was truly touching. It must have taken incredible strength and resilience to stand by her son under such scrutiny, all while enduring the loss of her husband. My heart goes out to her. Does anyone know if she’s spoken publicly about how she’s been coping these days?
