I’ve been following the discussions on this case, and it’s just so difficult to wrap my head around the immense loss that Kayla’s surviving sister must be feeling. To come through such a horrific experience and still find the strength to call for help is a testament to her bravery. I can’t imagine how terrifying it must have been for her, and she’s got a long road ahead healing from both physical and emotional trauma. It’s crucial that she receives all the support she needs from the community and counsellors who specialize in childhood trauma. If there are any local resources in Queens doing work related to this, now would be the time to highlight them. It’s important to shine a light on the deeply rooted issues like mental health that sometimes lead to these tragedies. We need more conversations and less stigma so individuals can find help before it’s too late. ?
