I wanted to focus on the impact that Dustin's death had on his colleagues and the broader community of transit workers. It's so sad to think that someone who worked tirelessly to help get us to where we need to go was taken in such a cruel way. I read somewhere that his friends at the MTA were truly devastated. It's moments like these that remind us of the need for increased measures to protect those who keep our city running every day. The fact that the community rallied with a collection box is a testament to how much he was loved. It's heartbreaking to think about his young son growing up without ever really knowing his dad. The Transport Workers Union stepping in to support the family shows the strength of their bond and commitment. It's a small silver lining in a tragic situation, but it warms my heart to see how people come together in times like this. I just hope the investigation picks up pace and they find the gunman responsible. Justice for Dustin should be a priority, both for his family and for the safety of everyone in the community.
