I’ve been following Jeremiah Alford's case, and I just can't shake the feeling this tragedy could have been avoided. While it’s clear that the shooting was accidental, I keep coming back to the issue of how these children had access to a firearm in the first place. It's so distressing to think about the “what ifs.” A child’s life has ended so abruptly due to something that might have been preventable with stricter safety measures. I’ve read about community efforts like the rally and the "Change of Heart Service," and while they are so important for healing and awareness, it’s hard not to wish the conversation had started sooner. I genuinely hope this incident propels legislative changes that will ensure firearms are secured out of reach of children. Jeremiah’s story is a poignant reminder of the lapses in our system and the urgent need to prioritize gun safety. My thoughts are with the Alford family, and I hope they find strength in the community support surrounding them.
