Has anyone looked into whether the area around the Pickle Tavern and the bike trail might have been under any construction around the time James disappeared? Construction sites often have large equipment, temporary fencing, and other hazards that might not be immediately obvious at night, especially if someone is disoriented or has had a few drinks. I wonder if some perfectly innocent factor, like construction work, might have played a role by obstructing his path or causing him to take a detour. Maybe it's a long shot, but it's strange that there were no additional surveillance cameras picking him up after that last sighting behind the tavern. Could be an angle worth exploring!
Hey everyone, I just came across a detail about James Liedtka's disappearance that's been bugging me, and I wonder if anyone else has thoughts on it. It's about the direction he was last seen heading. From the surveillance footage, James was walking eastbound on Water Street toward the Chippewa River bike trail.
Given that it was late at night and he was separated from his friends, do you think he might have chosen a familiar area for some reason? Was that a route he and his friends commonly took, or did he possibly have a reason to be heading there alone? This detail could be nothing, or maybe it's something to consider while trying to piece together his last known movements.
Also, was it typical for him or others to walk near the river late at night, especially during early November when it's pretty chilly out there? I've heard some speculate he might have just been trying to head back home or clear his head, but it seems odd with the temperature and time. Curious about anyone else's thoughts or if anyone local to Eau Claire sees anything unusual in his path. Let's keep the discussion going and see if we can uncover more insights.
