Does anyone else feel that the justice system just needs to be more proactive when it comes to preventing these tragedies? Reading about Luis Ortiz's case really highlights some glaring issues we face. It’s particularly haunting how gang involvement played a role in his murder. It’s like, this young man didn’t even get a chance to reach his full potential because of circumstances beyond his control. The aftermath was a clear wake-up call to address the root of gang violence, but it still feels like not enough is being done. There needs to be a stronger focus on prevention, like offering more community programs for at-risk youth. Maybe if we had those, Luis and others like him would have had the opportunity to choose a different path. RIP Luis, and my heart goes out to his family. It's a horrifying reminder of how much work we have to do. ?
