I’ve been thinking a lot about Jaquan Smalls and the impact his death has had on the community around the Butler Houses. It's truly upsetting to see such violence rip through places where people should feel safe. I read that the suspect still hasn’t been caught, and it makes me wonder about the challenges that law enforcement face when trying to solve cases like this. From what I’ve gathered, there was only a vague description of the shooter, which must make it incredibly hard for investigators. It’s frustrating to think about how a little more information could make such a difference. I hope that someone who saw something will come forward so Jaquan’s family can get some justice and peace of mind. My thoughts are with them and with everyone in the Claremont neighborhood who’s feeling the effects of this senseless act. It’s got to be a really tough time for them all. If anyone here has ideas on how we, as a community, can help with cases like this or support neighborhoods grappling with these issues, please share. Playing any small role in helping catch those responsible can truly make a difference.
