I’ve been thinking about Marlowe Smith’s life and how beloved he was in Niagara Falls. It’s just so difficult to come to terms with how someone who brought so much joy to everyone around him is no longer here. I never met him personally, but hearing from others about how passionate he was about cooking at Tony Roma's and his previous stint at Friday’s really drives home what a dedicated and warm person he must have been. His connection with people went beyond his immediate circle, too—I've read about his love for the Buffalo Bills and how it was a staple of conversation with friends and patrons alike. It’s not just the loss of life but the silence left behind where there was once laughter and camaraderie. While there’s some relief knowing that justice was served with Jamell Parker’s sentencing, it really can’t fill the void Marlowe’s absence has left in the community. My heart goes out to his family and friends who are missing him and facing the tough reality of life without him. If anyone else has memories of Marlowe they’d like to share, I think it would be a comforting tribute to his legacy.
