It's unimaginable to think about the determination it must've taken for him to work 40 consecutive days at Ground Zero, knowing he was breathing in hazardous materials and subjecting himself to unimaginable dangers. The toxic dust and chaos left scars that went far deeper than just physical ailments, yet so many first responders like him put everything they had on the line without a second thought. His story really brings to light the significant health crises these heroes face long after the events are no longer a top news story. It makes me think about how many people we don't hear about who are quietly suffering and need our support. I hope that this tragedy leads to more robust assistance programs for first responders who risked everything and are still paying the price. My heart goes out to his family and to everyone who continues to grapple with the invisible wounds of these events. We should honor Greenwood's life by advocating for systemic change and better resources for those still struggling.
