Has anyone else been following the community response to Hamler Cabrera-De Jesus's case? It's been over five years since the tragedy at Bushwick Playground, and I keep thinking about how the neighborhood must feel even now. I heard that the local community center organized several discussions and events focusing on conflict resolution and anti-violence initiatives after the incident. It's poignant to see folks trying to channel their grief and anger into something positive, especially for the youth who were at the playground that day. They shouldn't have to grow up worrying about this kind of violence. I wonder if any other neighborhoods have had similar community-led efforts after such tragedies. It’s a hard reminder of the lasting impact that such senseless violence can have on communities. ? Thoughts with Hamler’s family and friends as they continue to navigate this unimaginable loss.
