Has anyone else been struck by how many chances were missed to possibly prevent this tragedy? It's so devastating to think about how many domestic violence calls were made to their home, and yet Renee never pressed charges. It’s understandable that these situations are incredibly complicated, but it makes me wonder what might have been done differently. Could friends or family have rallied around her more to encourage her to take a stand, or could there have been more intervention from social services? My heart goes out to Renee’s sister Michele and the rest of her family. Losing someone in such an awful way must be unimaginably painful. I just hope that by discussing these issues, we might shed light on ways to prevent other families from experiencing a similar nightmare.
