I'm really feeling for Carlos Perez-Torres’s family and everyone who knew him. It must have been such a shock to lose someone they loved so suddenly and violently. One thing that stood out to me was the role of Detective Sgt. William Cooley and Detective Patti Wrest in this case. Hearing about how the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad handled the investigation with such dedication makes me appreciate the work they do to seek justice for victims like Carlos. It’s reassuring to know there are people who truly care about bringing those responsible to justice, even when it seems like there’s no explanation for why these things happen. The fact that Marchese pled guilty, preventing a long and painful trial for Carlos’s family, is at least one small mercy in this whole tragic affair. I hope the family is finding some peace now that there's been some resolution in court.
