I can’t stop thinking about how the neighborhood must be feeling after this tragedy in Harlem. I've been following the case and learning about Yvette Rivera and Hampton Smith. It's clear they were the backbone of their community, which makes it even harder to grasp why this could happen. So many people describe them as incredibly helpful and kind-hearted, always looking out for others despite any personal challenges they faced. I can’t imagine the heartbreak for their family, friends, and neighbors—they’ve lost two beloved members of the community. The moments leading up to this are truly horrifying, knowing it was spurred on by disputes over noise. It seems so senseless and unnecessary. This should remind us all how important it is to address conflicts before they spiral out of control and become something unthinkable. Does anyone know if there have been any community support events or gatherings since this happened? It seems like everyone who knew them must need some space to grieve properly.
