I’ve been following the Richard Reed case, and my heart goes out to his family, particularly Gail. It’s deeply concerning that loitering in lobby areas can escalate to such a horrific crime. I used to live near Farragut Houses, and I remember how unsettling it can feel knowing there’s a constant presence of people just hanging around with little supervision. I can’t imagine what the residents must be going through right now, feeling unsafe in their own homes. It's a tragedy that highlights the need for improved community safety measures. Why aren’t the surveillance cameras more effective? And why aren’t there stricter controls on loitering, especially in places where families live? It's frustrating to see the same issues repeating without meaningful action. My thoughts are with Richard’s son—no child should have to grow up without their parent. Let's hope for some urgency in resolving this situation and bringing about justice and change.
