Has anyone else been following the proceedings around Hosea Hanslip's trial? I was reading up on how the case has progressed and found myself really thinking about how Joel Saldana's family is coping, especially with the trial taking so long to start. Losing someone is hard enough, but I can’t imagine what his fiancée, Shateugay Patterson, must be feeling, waiting for justice with a little one to look after. This community has really shown its support, which is important for healing, but I hope the trial brings some closure for Joel's loved ones. How do you think this kind of delay impacts families seeking justice?

Did anyone else hear about Hosea Hanslip's defense strategy? It seems like they're going to argue self-defense, which is just mind-blowing to me. From everything shared by Joel's friends and family, it sounds like Joel was a genuinely good guy who didn't seek out trouble. I'm trying to wrap my head around how this argument could possibly hold up in court. It's gut-wrenching to think about what Joel's loved ones are going through as they have to hear all the details and relive the pain. I hope they find comfort in each other and the memories of Joel's kindness and love. If anyone has more insights or thoughts on how self-defense might play out in a case like this, I'm all ears.
