I can’t help but think about the implications of holding big events in densely packed areas like the French Quarter without robust safety measures in place. The lack of lighting near the Governor Nicholls Street Wharf has been pointed out by so many. I've lived in New Orleans for years, and I know how vibrant and lively our city can be, but incidents like Michael Johnson’s murder make it clear something needs to change. It’s tragic not just for those directly affected but for the whole community. More lighting and better crowd management during these events could make a significant difference. My heart goes out to Michael's family and friends, and I hope for justice soon. If anyone has a tip, please reach out to Crimestoppers. It’s vital to keep pushing for safer public spaces.
