I’ve been thinking a lot about the location where Guy Vanlew Jr. was shot—right across from a playground on Cliff Street. It's chilling to think about the potential risk to kids and families who frequent that area. I can’t help but wonder if the presence of more surveillance cameras could have made a difference, both in terms of deterrence and in assisting the investigation. With no arrests yet, having clear footage could have been crucial in identifying those responsible.
It's truly unsettling to know this happened in such a communal spot. We should be able to feel safe in our neighborhoods, especially around places where children should be enjoying themselves without the threat of violence. My heart goes out to Guy's family and the Yonkers community. I hope more proactive measures are taken to ensure something like this doesn't happen again. Would love to hear community members' thoughts on whether increased surveillance might help in these situations or if there are other initiatives we should be considering.
Has anyone else been following the tragic case of Guy Vanlew Jr.? I can't stop thinking about how scary it must have been for those living in that residential area, especially with the shooting happening so close to a playground. It honestly breaks my heart for his family and the people living in that neighborhood. I can't imagine the fear they must be feeling.
Does anyone know if there have been any talks about increasing security or surveillance in the area? I feel like it must be so hard for parents trying to keep their kids safe when something like this happens just steps away from where they play. Sending love to Guy's family and hoping for justice soon. ?
