Just came across the Howard Bass case, and something’s been nagging at me. The whole deal with his car being found at the Soldotna landfill feels off. Why would anyone ditch their car there of all places if they were planning to travel to Seldovia? It's a bit out of the way and certainly not a common spot to leave a vehicle if you’re headed somewhere. Also, did they ever figure out why he was going to Seldovia in the first place? Was it work-related, personal, or something else entirely? It seems like these details could help piece together what was happening in his life around that time. Anyone else have thoughts on this angle or heard any updates?
Hey everyone, I’ve been digging into the Howard Bass case, and I keep coming back to the witness account of him leaving his car at the Soldotna landfill and heading toward Seldovia. How risky! Imagining someone taking off on foot out of desperation... or was it something else? Given how remote and challenging the terrain can be, especially without preparation or a vehicle, it’s curious why Howard chose to leave his car. Also, losing his keys seems like such an odd detail. Was it truly an accident, or could it have been a sign of something else going on that day? The idea of someone just vanishing in an area where they might need survival skills is haunting. Anyone else have insights into local conditions or similar cases in the Soldotna or Seldovia area during that time? Any theories on why he might have been eager to get to Seldovia back then? This case just has so many open-ended questions!
