Hi everyone, I’ve been following the tragic story of Demontris Toliver, and something has been weighing on my mind. I can’t shake the image of Bourbon Street filled with people celebrating and how quickly it turned into a nightmare. Demontris, being someone so connected to the arts community as an alum of NOCCA, must have brought so much vibrancy and spirit to those around him. I’m wondering if there are any memorials or tributes planned in New Orleans or Baton Rouge that you all know of? It feels important to honor his life and the light he brought. My heart goes out to his family and friends; losing someone so unexpectedly is a heavy burden, especially during a time meant for celebration. I’m hoping they find some comfort in the support pouring in from both communities. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts.

I still can't wrap my head around how Demontris Toliver's life was cut short on what should have been a joyful celebration of his birthday. Even more upsetting is that it happened during Bayou Classic Weekend, a time when people usually come together to enjoy the festivities. It's chilling to think that such violence erupted on a night that's usually filled with laughter and music. What's got me thinking is the fact that Demontris was a talented tattoo artist who seemed to have such a promising future. I've read about his time at NOCCA and can't help but wonder about the art he will never get to create. It's like a light was abruptly dimmed, leaving a void not just in the art world but in the lives of everyone around him. I hope his family finds some peace, though I know it must be incredibly difficult with the main suspects still not caught. How do these things keep happening, and how do we stop them? It's just all so tragic and frustrating.
