I live in Bed-Stuy and was really shaken when I heard about what happened to Russel Hazelton. It's devastating to think that a simple dispute lead to something so tragic. My heart goes out to his loved ones. I can't imagine the pain they must be going through. I wish we knew more about what sparked the conflict between Russel and Christopher Mackins. It bothers me that something which maybe could have been resolved in another way ended so horribly. It's sad to see gun violence claiming yet another life in our community. We need more conflict resolution programs or support systems to prevent these kinds of events. I'd love to hear if anyone else has thoughts on how we can bring about change locally to help curb this kind of violence.
