I've been thinking a lot about the playground where Waltequaries Evans was shot. It's so unsettling to imagine such a tragic incident happening in a place that's usually filled with the laughter of children. That park should be a safe haven for joy and community, not a backdrop for violence. It’s unimaginable for the families who frequent the area to feel safe knowing what took place there. I hope the community can come together to reclaim that space and ensure it's a place of safety and healing, not fear. My heart goes out to Waltequaries’ family, especially given everything he had already been through after surviving the house fire years ago. How many tragedies should one person have to face in a lifetime? It's a somber reminder of the importance of tackling gun violence and protecting our community spaces.
