I’ve been thinking a lot about the jury’s decision to acquit Goodman of the second-degree murder charge while still convicting him of weapon possession. It’s pretty jarring, especially for Shaun’s friends and family who must be struggling with this outcome. The self-defense arguments seemed convoluted to me, but I guess that’s the core of legal complexity. How do they navigate the lines between defending oneself and committing murder? Also, the fact that the gun was stolen and Goodman had a prior record makes me wonder how much these factors weighed in with the jury, despite the ultimate verdict in his favor. It’s tough to wrap my head around all of this, but my thoughts are with everyone involved, especially Shaun’s loved ones. They’re the ones left dealing with all these unanswered questions and trying to find some peace.
