Has anyone else been following the heartbreaking story of Jeremy Hamilton Jr. and noticed the role that probation violations seem to play in these cases? It's tough to think about how someone like Trevor Smith III, already with a felony conviction and on probation, was able to get his hands on a firearm. I feel for Jeremy’s family, knowing that he lost his life in such a senseless act. I hope this shines a light on the gaps in the system that allow folks like Smith to evade restrictions so easily and ultimately put innocent lives in jeopardy. Maybe tighter monitoring for those on probation could prevent more tragedies like this from happening? Sending strength and love to all who knew and loved Jeremy.
