Has anyone else been following the Miguel Rodriguez case? I've been really struck by how much his loss has affected his community. From everything I've read, Miguel seemed like such a dedicated and kind person, always supporting his family while juggling two jobs. It’s so tragic that his life was cut short in such a violent way.
What really bothers me is the location of the incident—Joyce Kilmer Park, right by Yankee Stadium. I walk by there quite often, and it’s unsettling to think about such a violent crime happening in an area that should feel safe. This case just reinforces how crucial it is to address gun violence in our communities.
I can’t even imagine what Miguel’s family is going through, especially since he was their main source of support. While I'm relieved they found the suspect, Leonard Thalease, it just doesn’t seem like justice will ever be enough to make up for their loss.
