I can’t stop thinking about the role community resources might have played in preventing the tragedy of Lamar Brandon Cassevoy’s death. With Rochester witnessing its 60th homicide in 2022, it's clear we're facing some tough challenges here. I'm wondering if there were enough programs available to help individuals like Kenneth Scott, who had a history of criminal activity, before things escalated to such a devastating end. Were there opportunities for intervention that could have guided someone like Scott onto a different path? While my heart goes out to Cassevoy’s family and friends, I'm also pondering how the system can change to prevent these situations from happening in the first place. What can be done to better support those at risk of resorting to violence?
