I recently stumbled across the case of Fred Arvin Lee from Groton, and I'm puzzled by the delay in his missing person report. It wasn't until over 30 years later that his mother reported him missing in 2017. I wonder what made her decide to file the report at that particular time. Was there a new piece of information or a change in circumstances that prompted it? It’s hard to imagine the distress of waiting decades for any kind of answer. Given that he was last seen shortly after leaving the Navy, I'm curious if there were any informal efforts to find him before the official report. Has anyone come across similar cases where such a long gap occurred before a missing person report was filed, and what could be the reasons behind it?

Did anyone else notice the delay in reporting Fred Arvin Lee missing? I can't help but wonder what was going on during those 31 years that passed before his disappearance was officially reported. It seems odd that his family waited so long, especially since he left military service shortly before he vanished. I'm curious if there were any efforts on their part to find him during those years, or if they were possibly under the impression that he just struck out on his own. Perhaps they had some reason to believe he was safe or had communicated with someone unofficially? Either way, it's puzzling, and I sincerely hope more details come out that might clarify this long gap in reporting. This might be an angle worth exploring further.

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into Fred Arvin Lee’s case, and something that sticks out to me is the delay in his missing person report. It’s puzzling why it took until 2017 for his disappearance to be officially reported. I understand his family was in Maryland, which might have made communication and coordination more challenging, but that’s over three decades without a formal report. Could there have been a misunderstanding about Fred’s whereabouts during those years, or did life just get in the way? Also, I'm curious if anyone knows how common it was for military families to lose touch like this back in the 80s? I wonder if his military background played any role in how the initial disappearance was perceived. Perhaps others were in similar situations back then, assuming someone was just moving around after service. Anyone who has more insights into military disappearances or keeping ties across states back then, I’d love to hear your thoughts. It’s important to piece together elements like this to hope for any breakthroughs.
