Hey everyone, I've been diving into the Charles Martin disappearance case from '87, and something about the timeline is just baffling to me. I can't wrap my head around why it took so long—nearly five months!—for anyone to report Charles and the others missing. It's just really unusual that there wasn't any earlier concern or involvement from friends, extended family, or neighbors.
I know hindsight is 20/20, but it makes me wonder if people just thought they were off on an extended trip and didn't see any red flags. Or could there have been a misunderstanding about when they were supposed to return? ?‍♀️
Also, does anyone know what kind of communication was like back then for people going on long boat trips? Were there ways to check in, or would that have been improbable/expensive in the late '80s? Just trying to piece together how this might have unfolded in that era...
