I've been thinking a lot about Dwayne "Red" Alphonse's case lately, and it's really been heavy on my mind. I never had the privilege of knowing him personally, but from what I've read, he seemed like a genuinely good person — just trying to make his way in the world as a young adult, working in landscaping and living his life in New Orleans. Honestly, what strikes me the most is the pain his family must feel, especially Erica and Cynthia. It's hard to imagine the void left behind when someone so young is taken away so violently and suddenly. Every unsolved case feels like an open wound that never gets a chance to heal for the families involved. It's frustrating to see so many of these cases in New Orleans remain unsolved, and my heart goes out to everyone touched by this. I wonder how much progress the NOPD and other agencies are making with the investigation. I know they're probably overwhelmed with a lot of cases, but I really hope they can eventually bring some closure to Dwayne’s family. It’s encouraging to hear they’re using modern forensic techniques, and maybe, just maybe, someone out there knows something that could lead to justice for Dwayne. For those who knew him, I can't even imagine how much his presence is missed every day. I hope that by keeping his memory alive, sharing his story, and urging anyone with information to come forward, we can somehow help make a difference.
