I’ve been thinking a lot about the bravery of the other employee who was in the store that night. It must’ve been terrifying to witness such a horrific event and have to make the quick decision to hide and stay safe. My heart goes out to them, as this is the kind of experience that must leave unimaginable scars. I can’t help but wonder if they’ve been able to find some peace or if they’ve received any counseling to help with the trauma. It’s easy for those of us on the outside to focus on the crime itself and the search for the perpetrators, but there are people left shaken and changed forever in its wake. If I were privy to this investigation, I’d urge the community and authorities to provide as much support as possible for all those impacted. It’s cases like these that highlight how important mental health resources are for survivors.
