I recently stumbled onto the case of Jack Dean Greger and found myself particularly intrigued by the halfway house angle. I wonder why Jack was there in the first place and what kind of support system he had, if any. Does anyone know how halfway houses operated back in 1990 in terms of tracking or monitoring individuals living there? It seems strange that someone could just walk away, never to be heard from again. Was there any kind of protocol for when someone went missing from such a facility, or was it more of an “on-your-own” situation once you left the premises? It’s details like these that might shed light on what could have happened to him. I can’t stop thinking about what the lack of surveillance or follow-up might imply about the urgency with which this case was handled. Any insights into how these establishments functioned would be appreciated!
