I’ve been following the case of Steven Justin Lewis and wanted to share some thoughts about the community's response to the violence in Baltimore. It’s truly saddening to see how violence has become almost a normal part of life for some, and Steven’s death sheds light on that harsh reality. In many neighborhoods, people are living under the constant threat of violence, and it's really concerning how quickly community members have to adjust and move on without getting the answers or justice they deserve.
Despite the lack of information and leads in Steven's case, I think there’s a significant takeaway here about the importance of community trust with law enforcement. If people don't feel safe coming forward or have faith that their tips will be acted upon, then we can't expect much progress in bringing perpetrators to justice. Building that trust takes time, and unfortunately, more lives are affected as that process unfolds.
On a personal level, I can only imagine the pain of Steven’s loved ones dealing with this loss while facing the reality that justice might take years, if it comes at all. We should be encouraging open dialogues between communities and the police, advocating for broader support systems to help prevent these tragedies, and ensuring that those left behind aren't forgotten amid the statistics. Anyone else have thoughts on how Baltimore or other cities can tackle this issue more effectively?
