I recently came across the case of Troy Smothers from 2016, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. It's so unnerving to think about someone just coming home from a regular day and never making it. I was particularly struck by how the incident took place right in front of a convenience store—a place so many of us stop by without a second thought. It's terrifying how such a routine location became the setting for this tragedy. The whole thing unfolded so quickly, but what's been on my mind is the impact on the other people who were there. Can you imagine just being in the wrong place at the wrong time? I'm hoping that the survivors are finding the support they need. The community around that area must be so shaken still. From what I've read, there seems to be a strong push for change, and it's truly needed. I hope it brings some peace to those affected and strengthens the resolve of the neighborhood to stand together against such violence.
