I've been following the case of Aaron Palmese, and I was struck by the impact his death has had on the Pigtown community. It's sad to see so much potential lost, especially when Aaron seemed to be on the cusp of really making something of his music career. From what I've read, he was a really talented artist who had big dreams not just for himself, but for his family too. His death isn't just a loss to his family, but to everyone who believed in him and what he stood for.
I think it's admirable how his mother, Free, has channeled her grief into action. By taking over Aaron's clothing line and participating in community events like those organized by Baltimore Ceasefire 365, she's doing all she can to keep his memory alive and bring attention to the issue of gun violence. It’s a powerful way to honor him and turn tragedy into a push for change.
It’s just frustrating that there still hasn’t been any progress in solving his case. You’d think with so many people impacted and invested in his story, there might be more urgency in finding answers. I hope we don't forget that justice still needs to be served, not just for Aaron, but for so many others in Baltimore who have been affected by violence.
