Has anyone looked into the possibility of George Edward Smith using an alias or starting a new life somewhere else? Given the gaps in his financial activity and the fact that he stayed in two states, it makes me wonder if he might have had plans or connections that weren't obvious to his family or authorities. People vanish for all kinds of reasons, and sometimes those reasons are only known to them. If he did have any acquaintances or friends in Tucson who might have seen or heard from him around the time he disappeared, it could provide some fresh insight. I wonder if the police ever followed up on connections in both states as thoroughly as they could have?

I've been following the George Edward Smith case and something's been bugging me about the whole situation. George regularly staying in both Rome, Wisconsin, and Tucson, Arizona seems like it would be unusual for a lot of people, especially at his age. But if he had a routine tied to those places, perhaps someone in the community might have noticed his absence? Does anyone know if investigators reached out to local hangouts or businesses he frequented, maybe to see if employees or regulars remembered seeing him around early 1996? Sometimes those details get overlooked, but they might hold some memory of him—especially if he had a unique personality or quirk that stood out. Maybe locals in Rome or Tucson can share if they heard anything back then that they didn't think was important but might help now. Surely someone noticed an older guy going off the radar like that, particularly considering his medical needs. What do you all think?
