George Edward Smith, a 70-year-old man from Nekoosa, Wisconsin, was last heard from on March 15, 1996. His ex-wife, Twyla Smith, reported him missing after not hearing from him for several months. George frequently stayed in both Rome, Wisconsin, and Tucson, Arizona. Twyla expressed concern because George had not used their joint checking account, his only source of income, for an extended period.
Additionally, George had a medical condition that required medication, which led her to believe he may have passed away.
Despite extensive investigations, no one in George's family has heard from him since May of 1996, and no leads have emerged regarding his whereabouts. At the time of his disappearance, George was described as being between 5'11" and 6'1" tall, weighing 145 to 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. His case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to seek any information that could help resolve the mystery of his disappearance.
