I've been thinking about the lack of witnesses in the Albertus Nelson case. It's genuinely concerning how fear seems to overshadow justice in such situations. Understandably, people might be scared to come forward, especially in areas grappling with high crime rates, but it makes it so much harder for families seeking closure. I can't imagine the frustration and pain Nelson's family is enduring, knowing there might be someone out there with the info they need. It's crucial that we start creating safer avenues for witnesses to speak up without fear of retribution. I wonder if there are programs in place to offer protection or support to those willing to step forward. The whole community loses out when fear keeps us silent. Would love to hear any thoughts on how we could encourage more people to come forward—perhaps there are successful models from other cities we can look into?
