I came across something in David Mackall Jr.’s case that’s really sticking with me – the role of community dynamics and the "stop snitching" culture that Ava Mackall mentioned. It’s absolutely devastating to think that the climate of fear and potential retaliation can silence witnesses and obstruct justice. Imagine being in Ava’s shoes, losing a son and then facing a legal battle where crucial testimonies might be held back because people are too scared to speak the truth. It's a scenario that's as frustrating as it is tragic. This really highlights a much deeper issue within these communities. How do we foster environments where people feel safe enough to come forward without fear? I don't have the answers, but it’s something we as a society need to address. Victims and their families deserve justice, and we need to find a way to support those willing to stand up and testify. My thoughts go out to the Mackall family during this incredibly difficult time.
