I keep thinking about the role of community sports in Donavan Disney's life and how much they seemed to mean to him. Growing up near Martinsburg, I've seen the powerful bonds formed on local basketball courts and football fields. It's where a lot of kids build lifelong friendships, learn teamwork, and find mentors. It breaks my heart that someone with such a passion for sports had his life cut short in such a senseless way. I've heard from folks who knew him that his energy on the court was contagious, and he was always encouraging others to be their best. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for his family and friends to have lost someone who was not only talented but genuinely uplifting. Hoping they find some comfort in knowing how much he meant to so many people and the joy he brought through his love of the game. Has anyone else seen how community sports have been a positive influence in their area?
