The community is grappling with yet another senseless tragedy. When I heard about Cheryl McCormack's murder, I was just heartbroken for her family. As a mother myself, I can’t even begin to fathom the grief her children and husband are experiencing right now. It's maddening that such violence continues to plague our cities. While it's a relief that suspects have been apprehended, I'm troubled by the ages of those involved. What leads teenagers to commit such heinous acts? It makes you wonder how we can intervene earlier to reach these kids before they make irreversible choices. My thoughts are with Cheryl’s loved ones, and I truly hope they find some solace as the legal process unfolds. More needs to be done to honor Cheryl’s life by ensuring our streets are safer for everyone.
