In following this case, I can't help but reflect on how close to home this tragedy happened for Kareem. It’s truly devastating to think that he was just steps away from where he should have been safest. The shooting outside his home must have been terrifying for all involved, and it's a stark reminder of how gun violence shatters the sense of security we all hope to have in our neighborhoods. Kareem's mother, Tameka, and the rest of his family deserve all the support they can get from us. It’s unfathomable to process such a sudden loss, especially under these circumstances. I hope the community continues to rally around them and provide the strength they need as they navigate the legal process and fight for justice. Seeing that a suspect has been apprehended is a step, albeit a small one, towards finding some answers. But I can't help but feel there's more work to be done. We need to understand why these types of incidents continue to happen and look for ways to prevent the senseless violence that claims so many young lives. My thoughts are with Kareem’s family and all those affected.
