I've been following the case of Makeon Hines, and it's just so devastating to hear about all the violence taking place in Baltimore. As a father myself, I can't even begin to imagine the loss his family must be feeling, especially his mom, Piccola, who's had the added blow of losing a son that had embraced fatherhood in such a meaningful way. It's clear he was committed to being the best dad he could be. I was reading up on how his community has been reaching out on social media, sharing and reminiscing over happy memories with Makeon. It must be so tough for the family to navigate through this while trying to get some closure. The neighborhood must be shaken too, especially with no answers yet from the police. Hearing that gunshots were mistaken for fireworks really hit home for me—it shows just how normalized such terrifying sounds have become in some areas. I hope that the police can gather enough information to track down whoever did this. Nobody deserves to have their life, and their future, taken like this. To Makeon's family and friends, you're in my thoughts. ? Let's keep hoping that justice will eventually prevail.
